Edwin Ernst Weber

Edwin Ernst Weber (born July 7, 1958 in Rottweil ) is a German historian and archivist . He is the cultural advisor and archive director of the district of Sigmaringen , head of the culture and archive department there, as well as a board member and managing director of the Upper Swabian Society for History and Culture .

Life

Growing up in Dunningen , Weber passed his Abitur in 1977 at the Leibniz Gymnasium in Rottweil. After an editorial traineeship at the Schwarzwälder Bote in Oberndorf am Neckar and a voluntary social peace service with Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste in France, he studied history, political science and folklore at the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg and at the Free University of Berlin since 1981 . In 1990/91 he did his doctorate at the University of Freiburg with a study on peasant resistance in the territory of the Swabian imperial city of Rottweil in the 17th and 18th centuries. From 1989 to 1991 he trained as a scientific archivist at the General State Archives in Karlsruhe , at the Marburg Archive School and at the Federal Archives in Koblenz . In 1991 he passed the state examination for the higher archival service. He has been employed by the Sigmaringen district since 1991. In 2017 he was awarded the Friedrich Schiedel Science Prize for the History of Upper Swabia .

Weber is married and has one son. He lives in Inzigkofen .
