Edwin McCain (born January 20, 1970 in Greenville , South Carolina ) is an American singer-songwriter and musician . He plays alternative rock with influences from jazz and soul .

Personal

McCain was adopted as a child. He is married and has two biological sons and an adopted child with his wife.

Career

His first release, Nomadic Logic , came out in 1991 through an independent label. In 1995 he signed a four-album deal with Atlantic Records . The label released its debut album Honor Among Thieves in 1995 . The single I'll Be from the second album Misguided Rose reached the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 . After another two albums to Atlantic and McCain split due to musical differences, because the record company of McCain Pop - Ballads expected, but this did not meet his musical ideas. McCain was signed by ATC and released an acoustic version album in 2003 called The Austin Sessions . Then changed the label again and released further albums with Vanguard and Time / Life Music .

McCain plays a lot of concerts, sometimes more than 300 a year. He is accompanied by a permanent band consisting of guitarists Larry Chaney and Pete Riley, saxophonist and keyboardist Craig Shields, bassist Jason Pomar and drummer Tez Sherrard.
