Eero Johannes Kolehmainen (born March 24, 1918 in Anttola , † December 7, 2013 in Mikkeli ) was a Finnish cross-country skier .

Kolehmainen's greatest successes occurred after the Second World War . At the age of 33 he won the silver medal in 50 km cross-country skiing at the Olympic Winter Games in Oslo in 1952 behind his compatriot Veikko Hakulinen . Four years later, in Cortina d'Ampezzo , Italy , he finished fourth on 50 km in the victory of the Swede Sixten Jernberg . At the world championships he came in eleventh place in Falun in 1954, and in fifth place in Lahti in 1958 .

Kolehmainen had his first major international success in 1950 at the Holmenkollen Games , when he won the 18 km cross-country skiing. In 1957 he won the 50 km run and was awarded the Holmenkollen Medal in the same year . In 1956 and 1957 he won the 50 km at the Lahti Ski Games . In 1959, at the age of 41, he became Finnish champion in Kajaani .

Kolehmainen belonged to the sports club Anttolan Urheilijat from his place of birth. In 2003 he received the Finnish athlete's award Pro Urheilu . Kolehmainen died on December 7, 2013 at the age of 95.
