Eduardo Effa founded the company in 2006 or 2007. The company's headquarters are in San José de Mayo . The company imports vehicles from the People's Republic of China and sells them as Effa . The main market is Brazil. In 2008 a Brazilian company of the same name was founded in Barueri . There were plans to manufacture vehicles using the CKD process . A production plant in Manaus , Brazil was also planned.

There are or have been partnerships with Changhe , Dongfeng , Beiqi Foton Motor , Hafei , Higer , Huanghai , Jinbei , JMC , Lifan , Sinotruck and Zotye .

The assembly plant in Uruguay was sold to Lifan Motors Uruguay in 2012 , after Lifan models had already been assembled there in 2010.
