The Río Ega is an approximately 113 km long tributary of the Ebro in northern Spain .

The Río Ega rises in the mountains of the Basque province of Álava (Montaña Alavesa) in the area of the municipality of Lagrán , flows first in an easterly direction, then flows through the Spanish province of Navarra from northwest to southeast and flows into the Ebro near the small town of San Adrián .

The only major tributary is the Río Berrón . The Río Ega is not dammed. The water of the Río Ega is used for irrigation, especially on its lower reaches.

Attractions
The city of Estella-Lizarra is located on the Spanish Way of St. James ( Camino de Santiago ) and offers a beautiful old town with numerous churches and palaces - including the Romanesque church of San Miguel and the Palacio de los Reyes de Navarra . The late Romanesque Iglesia Nuestra Señora de la Asunción of Marañón houses an altarpiece (retablo) with scenes from the life of Mary and the Passion of Christ dating from around 1500. The picture carvings of the altarpiece of the church of San Esteban in Genevilla also belong to the artistic highlights of the 16th century. Century.
