The Geerenbach (formerly also called Chirchbach ) is a 2.3-kilometer-long left tributary of the Breitibach in the municipality of Dübendorf in the Swiss canton of Zurich . It drains an area of 0.97 square kilometers on the Adlisberg .
course
The Geerenbach rises above Geeren on the eastern slope of the Adlisberg in the Bannholz forest area at 608 m above sea level. M. The source of the Breitibach is only 250 meters away. After about 380 meters of the stream in a north-easterly direction, it reaches the hamlet of Geeren . It crosses the settlement area openly and briefly follows the edge of the forest of Eichholz on a north-westerly course . The Geerenbach now enters the forest area and takes on the Ratzenhaldenbach from the left in the Heutobel , which is 200 meters longer than the Geerenbach with a 1.2 kilometer course. Here it changes its course again and now flows through the forest in a north-easterly direction. It leaves the forest area again near the hamlet of Fallmen and now runs for the last 680 meters, initially briefly accompanied by a forest border , lined with fields, before it flows into the Breitibach from the left at the Werlen shooting range .
Before the 1950s, the brook did not flow into the Breitibach, but took up the Schlosstobelbach in Fallmen and subsequently ran through the center of the Dübendorf district of Wil and along today's Kirchbachstrasse , before flowing east of the Neugut into the Glatt.
