Eglingen with the hamlet of Osterhofen is part of the municipality of Dischingen in the Heidenheim district . Until 1974 Eglingen was an independent municipality.

Eglingen is located northeast of the center of Dischingen on the district roads K 3003 and K 3001.
The place is on the east of the Härtsfeld , a plateau in the east of the Swabian Alb .
