Egon Pukall (born March 10, 1934 in Riesenkirch (West Prussia), † September 23, 1989 in Dresden ) was a German painter and graphic artist.

Life

After an apprenticeship as a photolithographer from 1948 to 1951, he studied from 1951 to 1954 at the Leipzig University of Graphics and Book Art and then until 1957 at the Dresden University of Fine Arts (HfBK). Pukall was head of the branch office of the HfBK and lecturer for painting / graphics in Bautzen .

From 1957 he was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR and worked as a freelance in Dresden. From 1977 to 1985 Pukall was entrusted with the reconstruction of the ceiling paintings during the reconstruction of the Dresden Semperoper .

One of his preferred techniques, in addition to classic painting techniques, was the monotype . Southern landscapes with a Mediterranean flair play a major role in Pukall's pictures. His longing for Italy , which also had a long tradition with other artists from Dresden, remained unfulfilled. Only shortly before his death did he have the opportunity to visit the country.

Pukall lived and worked from 1961 until his death in the Künstlerhaus Dresden-Loschwitz on the Dresden Elbe slope . He was buried in the Loschwitz cemetery .
