Egon Wilhelm Theodor Ramms (born August 5, 1909 in Kiel , † February 6, 1993 in Wesel ) was a German politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

Ramms was born the son of a shipping merchant. After attending secondary school , he studied mathematics and physics at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster from 1928 to 1934 . There he became an active member of the Catholic Student Union Germania in the KV , to which he remained lifelong. From 1934 to 1935 he did voluntary military service . He then joined his father's shipping business. In 1941 he took part in the development of German shipping companies on the Vistula in occupied Poland . From 1939 to 1940 and from 1942 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . He was wounded three times during the war. Most recently, he was taken prisoner , from which he was released shortly afterwards. Ramms had been working as an independent shipping clerk in Wesel since 1945 , where he ran his own company, which he expanded in the following years.

His son Egon Ramm was general of the army, and in his last use commander of the Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum of NATO . He retired on September 30, 2010.

Ramms joined the FDP in 1947 .

Ramms had been a councilor for the city ​​of Wesel since 1950 and chaired the FDP parliamentary group there. From 1956 to 1958 he was a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament . From 1956 to January 1958 he was deputy chairman of the FDP parliamentary group. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1957 to 1969. He was always drawn into parliament via the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia .
