The former town hall in Heilbronn 's Neckargartach district is a half-timbered building from 1650 at Mittelstrasse 3.

history

From 1805 until Neckargartach was incorporated into Heilbronn in 1938, the place was an independent political municipality with its own administrative seat. Even during the time as an imperial town of Heilbronn (from the Middle Ages to 1805) Neckargartach had its own mayor , mayor and court lord . On May 6th and 7th, 1622, the place was destroyed as a result of the battle of Wimpfen by the Spanish army under Cordova, who had set up his quarters near Neckargartach. Except for the church, the whole of Neckargartach was set on fire.

Today's old town hall was built in 1650 after Neckargartach was destroyed, rebuilt in 1884 and completely renewed in 1897/98 after a heavy hail storm. In 1935/36, the historic half-timbered structure was exposed again during a renovation. After the many destruction that Neckargartach had to experience in the Middle Ages, the town hall is a symbol of the self-confidence of the Neckargartachers. Today the building is used as an administrative office and youth center.

In the former town hall of Neckargartach, two lugs in the facade of the half-timbered gable have been provided with carvings, figures or ornaments . A male head has been carved on the left and a female head on the right. The cripple-hip roof is adorned with a ridge turret , which is set up for a bell.
