Eian Sandvik (born March 28, 1989 ) is a Norwegian ski racer . He starts in all disciplines and is particularly successful in the downhill . In this discipline he was Norwegian champion in 2009 and vice-junior world champion the year before .

Career

Sandvik has been competing in FIS races since December 2004 . After having made it into the top ten many times, he celebrated his first victory in the Super-G in Hemsedal in November 2006 . After further podium places in FIS races, he also started in the European Cup from January 2007 . A year later he was able to score points in this racing series for the first time, but so far he has not achieved any major successes. His best European Cup result is a 13th place in the downhill from Les Orres on January 28, 2009. The Norwegian celebrated his greatest international success at the 2008 Junior World Championships in Formigal , Spain , when he won the silver medal in only a hundredth of a second behind the Italian Hagen Patscheider the departure won. He also finished seventh in the Super-G and in the slalom. In 2007 , his best result at the Junior World Championships was twelfth downhill rank , in 2009 he did not get beyond 20th place. At the national level, his greatest success to date is the victory in the 2009 Norwegian Downhill Championship, in which he left some world cup runners behind. Sandvik itself has not yet been used in the World Cup .

The Norwegian has been studying at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City , United States, since 2010 . Since the winter of 2010/2011, he has therefore mainly been racing in North America and taking part in competitions in the Nor-Am Cup . In this racing series, his best result so far is fourth place in the Super Combined by Aspen on February 17th, 2011.
