Hagen Patscheider (born January 19, 1988 in Schlanders ) is an Italian ski racer . The South Tyrolean specializes in the Downhill and Super-G disciplines.

biography

Patscheider grew up in Graun and won the giant slalom of the Trofeo Topolino in 2003 . In December of the same year he competed in his first FIS race . In 2005 he became the Italian junior champion in giant slalom and slalom, in the same year he finished second in giant slalom at the European Youth Olympic Festival . In 2006 he was able to defend his junior championship in giant slalom. The first appearances in the European Cup followed in January 2007 . In the winter of 2007/08 he began to concentrate on the fast downhill and super-G disciplines.

At the Junior World Championships in 2008 in Formigal , Patscheider won the gold medal in the downhill, as well as the bronze medal in the combined ranking. In the same year, he won the Super-G at the Italian Junior Championship. Patscheider made his debut in the World Cup on December 19th, 2008 in Val Gardena , where he finished 36th in the Super-G. In the 2008/09 season of the European Cup, he won the combined ranking with two second places and finished fifth in the overall ranking.

In the winter of 2009/10 Patscheider did not get more than fifth in the European Cup, and there was no progress in the World Cup either. In the 2010/11 season he got more opportunities to start in the World Cup and took his first points on December 29, 2010 when he finished 26th in the downhill from Bormio . His best World Cup result so far is 23rd place in the Super-G in Kitzbühel on January 21, 2011. At the end of the season he celebrated his first victory in the giant slalom in Formigal in the European Cup .
