The Eichepark is a 35-hectare park in the Marzahn district of Berlin in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district .
Origin and description
The park area was created on a former Rieselfeld and connects the Barnim Nature Park with the Wuhletal .
The boundaries of the park are Döliner Straße (north), the Wuhle river (east), the Ahrensfeld mountains (south) and Kemberger Straße (west).
Clearly visible and the landmark of the park is the Wuhletalwächter , a 17 meter climbing tower made of concrete slabs. This also represents the northern starting point of the Wuhletal hiking trail that crosses the park. The area is gradually being developed into a landscape park.
The park is named after the Brandenburg village of Eiche , which is located directly on the northeastern city limits of Berlin and has been part of the municipality of Ahrensfelde since 2003 .
In the park is the first barbecue area set up by the district office, with benches set in concrete, a mobile table and a toilet container, the cleanliness of which often leaves a lot to be desired. Vandalism, lighting campfires and listening to music that is too loud by users also create problems. Permanent preservation is not guaranteed. Scottish highland cattle are kept on fenced pastures for landscaping. Black alders have settled on both sides of the banks of the Wuhle.
