history

In the local dialect the place was called Göllenkothen .

In the 19th century Goldene Kothen belonged to the outlying villages of the farmers and the parish Dönberg in the mayor's office Hardenberg , which was renamed Neviges in 1935 . From 1816 to 1861 it belonged to the Elberfeld district and from 1861 to the old Mettmann district .

In the municipality lexicon for the province of Rhineland from 1888, a house with eight inhabitants is given for Goldene Kothen .

With the municipal reform of 1929, the southern part of Dönberg was split off from Neviges and incorporated into the newly founded city of Wuppertal with other Neviges villages outside Dönberg, including Goldene Kothen. The city boundary between Wuppertal and Neviges ran north of Goldene Kothen until 1975, and to the south of it ran from Neviges to Elberfeld until 1929. As a result of the regional reform of North Rhine-Westphalia , Neviges came to the city of Velbert at the beginning of 1975 and the rest of the Dönberg was also incorporated into Wuppertal. As a result, Goldene Kothen lost its border position.
