In Siepen is a location in the north of the Bergisch city ​​of Wuppertal .

Location and description

The location is in the south of the Dönberg residential area in the Uellendahl-Katernberg district at an altitude of 267  m above sea level. NHN on the street Am Langen Bruch south of In der Sonne .

In addition to Dönberg, other neighboring places are the courtyards and locations Goldene Kothen , Am Neuen Haus , Langenbruch , Neuenbaum , Auf'm Hagen , Am Hartkopfshäuschen and the immediately neighboring Dauka .

In the local dialect, the place was also called Passiepen .

In the 19th century Im Siepen belonged to the outlying villages of the farmers and the parish Dönberg in the mayor's office Hardenberg , which was renamed Neviges in 1935 . From 1816 to 1861 it belonged to the Elberfeld district and from 1861 to the old Mettmann district .

The place is labeled on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 as Siepen , also on the Prussian first survey from 1843 and the Wuppertal city map from 1930. In the current German basic map , the location is called Im Siepen .

A coal route ran south of Im Siepen from Sprockhövel to Elberfeld , on which coal was transported from the mines in the southern Ruhr area to the factories in Wuppertal in the late 18th century and in the first half of the 19th century the region was. A ravine has been preserved in the area of the coal path at Im Siepen .

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province of 1888, a house with six residents is given for Siepen .

With the municipal reform of 1929, the southern part of Dönberg was split off from Neviges and incorporated into the newly founded city of Wuppertal with other Neviges villages outside Dönberg, including Im Siepen. The city boundary between Wuppertal and Neviges ran north of Im Siepen until 1975, and south of it ran from Neviges to Elberfeld until 1929. As a result of the regional reform of North Rhine-Westphalia , Neviges came to the city of Velbert at the beginning of 1975 and the rest of the Dönberg was also incorporated into Wuppertal. As a result, Im Siepen lost its border position.
