history

In the 19th century, Am Neuen Sültekop was one of the suburbs of the farmers and the parish Dönberg in the mayor's office of Hardenberg , which was renamed Neviges in 1935 . From 1816 to 1861 it belonged to the Elberfeld district and from 1861 to the old Mettmann district . At that time the place was right on the border between the farmers and the Uellendahler Rotte of the Lord Mayor of Elberfeld .

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province from 1888, a house with nine residents is given. The place is called Söltenkopf .

At Am Neuen Sültekop, a coal route ran from Sprockhövel to Elberfeld (here today's Westfalenweg ), on which coal was transported from the mines in the southern Ruhr area to the factories in Wuppertal in the late 18th century and in the first half of the 19th century at that time was the industrial heart of the region.

With the municipal reform of 1929, the southern part of Dönberg was split off from Neviges and incorporated into the newly founded city of Wuppertal with other Neviges villages outside Dönberg, including Am Neuen Sültekop. The city boundary between Wuppertal and Neviges ran north of Am Neuen Sültekop until 1975, and to the south of it ran from Neviges to Elberfeld until 1929. As a result of the regional reform of North Rhine-Westphalia , Neviges came to the city of Velbert at the beginning of 1975 and the rest of the Dönberg was also incorporated into Wuppertal. As a result, Am Neuen Sültekop finally lost its border position.
