history

In the local dialect, the place was also called Eselshüsken (= donkey house ).

In the 19th century In der Sonne belonged to the outlying villages of the farmers and the parish Dönberg in the mayor's office Hardenberg , which was renamed Neviges in 1935 . From 1816 to 1861 it belonged to the Elberfeld district and from 1861 to the old Mettmann district .

The place is labeled as sun on the Prussian first recording from 1843 , as well as on the Wuppertal city map from 1930. On the current German basemap , the location is labeled in the sun .

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province of 1888, a house with seven inhabitants is given for Sonne .

With the municipal reform of 1929, the southern part of Dönberg was split off from Neviges and incorporated into the newly founded city of Wuppertal with other Neviges villages outside Dönberg, including In der Sonne. The city boundary between Wuppertal and Neviges ran north of In der Sonne until 1975, and south of it ran from Neviges to Elberfeld until 1929. As a result of the regional reform of North Rhine-Westphalia , Neviges came to the city of Velbert at the beginning of 1975 and the rest of the Dönberg was also incorporated into Wuppertal. As a result, In the sun lost its borderline position.
