Eike Hennig

Eike Hennig (born April 1, 1943 in Kassel ) is a German political scientist and sociologist .

Eike Hennig passed the Abitur in Kassel in 1962. From 1962 to 1971 he studied political science, sociology, history and public law at the Philipps University of Marburg and the University of Frankfurt . From 1968 to 1975 he was a research associate with Thomas Ellwein and Iring Fetscher at the Institute for Political Science there. In 1973 he received his doctorate with Wolfgang Abendroth ( Marburg School ) at the University of Marburg with a thesis on politics and economics under National Socialism .

In 1975 Hennig was appointed professor for mass communication / sociology in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Frankfurt. He was also a Research Fellow at St Antony's College , Oxford and Visiting Professor at Aalborg University (Denmark). From 1975 to 1977 he was Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences in Frankfurt. In 1976 he completed his habilitation with Jürgen Seifert and Michael Vester in political science at the Technical University of Hanover with the thesis on democratic theory, the public and mass communication .

In 1981 he was appointed University Professor for Theory and Methodology of Political Science in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Kassel . He worked on projects in Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Amsterdam , among others . In 2008 he was visiting professor at the Sigmund Freud Institute in Frankfurt. He retired in April 2008. Hennig is a member of the German Association for Political Science (DVPW) and the German Society for Sociology (DGS).

His main research interests are political culture, political dissatisfaction, and election and party research. Hennig has been investigating the election result in Kassel for decades.

Hennig is married and has two children.

In the 1994 dissertation by Wolfgang Dippel , Hennig did not behave scientifically and ethically correctly, criticized Bernd Overwien .
