Eike Mühlenfeld

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eike Mühlenfeld (born March 3, 1938 in Hanover ; † January 29, 2018 in Clausthal-Zellerfeld ) was a German physicist and professor of measurement and automation technology.

Life

Youth and Studies

Eike Mühlenfeld was born as the son of the lawyer, politician and ambassador Hans Mühlenfeld . He attended the humanistic Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Hanover, where he passed the final examination in 1956. He then studied physics at the University of Göttingen and in Canberra . He joined the Hannovera fraternity in Göttingen .

Scientific training

Diploma in physics at the University of Göttingen 1963. Doctorate to Dr.-Ing. at the Technical University of Hanover in 1967.

University and research

Scientific activity at the Aerodynamic Research Institute in Göttingen (1963), in the data processing department of the Measurement Technology and Holography Group at the Institute for Vibration Research in Tübingen ( Fraunhofer Society Munich) (1964). Then at the Institute for Information Processing in Technology & Biology (FhG), Karlsruhe, (today: Fraunhofer Institute for Optronics, System Technology and Image Evaluation IOSB).

Since 1976 University Professor for Measurement and Automation Technology, Institute for Electrical Information Technology, Chair for Control Technology and Electronics at the Clausthal University of Technology , Clausthal-Zellerfeld. Retired in 2003.

His areas of expertise are measurement and automation technology, complex technical systems and the processes that run on them, particularly with regard to optimal management with regard to material and energy consumption, environmental pollution and economic benefits; Evaluation of measurement and control data. His special research area in automation technology is the development of expert systems. Mühlenfeld has u. a. developed a trainable expert system (TXPS) that reliably detects cast parts in any position on a conveyor belt. The system can also be used, for example, to regulate processing processes in a plant with a changing composition of materials or to train speech recognition systems.

additional

Co-founder of the company Optromation, society for optoelectronic automation mbH, Goslar.

Married since 1963 to Margrit, b. Lessner; two daughters.
