Eike Reschke

Eike Reschke (born July 3, 1934 in Berlin ; † June 28, 2020 ) was a German sports lawyer and university professor .

Life

After graduating from high school , Reschke studied law and sport at the universities in Kiel and Freiburg im Breisgau from 1954 . In 1958 he passed the first legal state examination and the philological state examination in sport in Freiburg. In 1962, his doctoral thesis (subject: "The protection of foreign legal interests through German criminal law") was accepted in Freiburg. After completing his legal traineeship in 1963, he passed the second state examination in law at the Ministry of Justice in Stuttgart.

From 1963 to 1967 Reschke worked in Bad Godesberg as a consultant for the Joint Commission of the Conference of Ministers of Education and the Conference of West German Rectors on Study and Examination Regulations. In 1967 he switched to the Lower Saxony Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs in Hanover , where he was first responsible for exam regulations, then for university reform and the state university law.

In 1971 Reschke became Chancellor of the German Sport University Cologne (DSHS) and remained in office until 1999. During this time he played a decisive role in the expansion of the DSHS and was involved in the development of the teaching and research area of ​​sports law. In addition, he worked as a lecturer and examiner in sports law. In November 1999 he was appointed honorary professor for sports law at the DSHS. In research projects, Reschke dealt with the “relationship between sport, ethics and law as a fundamental approach to 'sports law'” and the “documentation of sports law”. In 1984 he submitted a draft for a “Handbook of Sports Law” and two years later he was involved in the publication of the handbook. In his publications he also dealt with the development of the German Sport University, the development of the amateur status in sport and the "legal recording of the conflict between sport and the environment".

Reschke was one of the founding members of the Association for German and International Sports Law and was a member of its board.

Reschke was buried on July 7, 2020 in the cemetery in Feldberg-Altglashütten .
