A Hells Angel among Brothers is a German documentary by Marcel Wehn from 2014. The film portrays the photographer and long-time chairman of the Stuttgart section of the Hells Angels motorcycle and rocker club , Lutz Schelhorn , and was awarded the prize for best documentary at the 2014 Neisse Film Festival . It opened in theaters on January 15, 2015.

The film accompanies Schelhorn for several years in his work on an illustrated book about the German rocker scene. He sees himself as a rebel who wants to underline the individuality of the individual Hells Angels members with his photographs. In his function as president of the Stuttgart charter of the Hells Angels, he complains about the currently miserable public image of the motorcycle club and compares the image of the Hells Angels today with earlier times. Back then motorcycling, brotherhood and freedom were in the foreground, today the Hells Angels are feared internationally for their crime in matters of weapons, drugs and also murder. Schelhorn tries to create a differentiated image of the legendary motorcycle club.

The film was received controversially by the critics.
The film service judges that “the supposed insight into the inner workings of the 'Hells Angels' suffers from the apparent lack of distance to the protagonist; The staging also has nothing to do with the discrepancy between ostentatious rebellion and the deeply bourgeois form of existence of the rockers ”.
Indiekino Berlin, on the other hand, writes: “The fact that 'A Hell's Angel Among Brothers' is not becoming a promo platform for the association and its members […] is thanks to the meticulous work of the director, who manages to attract the protagonists […] to confront their questionable attitudes to gun violence and justice without having to present their statement in the usual headline form. "
The epd film rated the documentary as positive: "Only behind the questions in the gaps and fractures of the mosaic-like portraits of close observers Wehn brings something to light: a real, almost one might say, a true picture of the Hells Angels, or at least the particular Angels Lutz Schelhorn. "
