The Monovalent grape ( Eupoecilia ambiguella ) is a butterfly ( moth ) from the family of Winder (Tortricidae).
features
The single-strand grape moth has a body six to seven millimeters in size with a wingspan of 12 to 14 millimeters. The wings are straw yellow with a black-brown transverse band.
distribution
The single-rope grape moth is widespread in Europe. It can also be found in China and Japan .
Way of life
Flight time
The flight time lasts about two to five weeks per generation with a clear flight highlight (in contrast to the crossed grape moth ). The flight, mating and oviposition mainly take place in the evening hours.
behavior
The single-strand grape moth needs less warmth than the crossed grape moth and is also found in northern wine-growing areas. It forms two generations per year, which are differentiated according to the caterpillars in hayworm and sourworm.
The pupae of the grape moth overwinter under the bark of the vine or on other host plants. The first generation animals hatch from the pupae at the end of April / beginning of May.
Harmful effect
The single-knot grape moth, like the crossed grape moth, is a pest in viticulture. The larvae of both curlers attack the flowers and grapes and thereby reduce the yield, especially since infected grapes are prone to gray mold rot ( Botrytis cinerea ). The grape moth is often combated with preventive insecticides . Alternatively, the population size of the moths is determined with pheromone traps , whereupon poison is used in a targeted manner. When biological control you bet on the disrupter , also called Verwirrtechnik, and various natural enemies.
