The house is controversial in Munich's local politics: While the then Green Mayor Josef Monatzeder sent his congratulations to the house on its tenth anniversary, the CSU and FDP parliamentary groups requested the house to be closed in Munich City Hall in October 2010. However, the application failed because of the red-green majority in the city council.
According to a report in the Süddeutsche Zeitung, the reason for the CSU's application are groups and events such as the opponents of the security conference, opponents of globalization and the “Palestine Days”, which the CSU believes provide a platform for radical left organizations.

The house was also criticized by the Green Youth in May 2013, saying that the house should leave its reputation as a “One World Without Israel House” behind it as quickly as possible.

In 2006 there was a police operation in the One World House after plainclothes police officers wanted to attend an event but were evicted from the room. The police operation was subsequently classified as unlawful by the Bavarian Administrative Court. The Munich CSU also called for the house to be closed at the time.

At the beginning of 2017, the city administration criticized the participation of the “Salam Shalom Working Group Palestine-Israel eV”, which met in the One World House, in the anti-Israel BDS campaign and asked the house not to provide any more premises to the initiative. The advisory board of the house complied with the request in March 2017, but the general assembly overturned the resolution. The city council groups of the CSU and SPD then submitted a joint application in July 2017, according to which urban spaces (which also includes the EWH) may not be made available for the BDS campaign or events supporting BDS goals.

The EineWeltHaus sees itself as a place where controversial socio-political debates are held. Examples include: sustainability , ecology , free trade agreements , war and the armaments industry , the political situation in Israel / Palestine, as well as human rights violations in other countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. In view of the complexity of the Middle East conflict , a unilateral group-specific perpetrator-victim role allocation or role assignment is prohibited. Rather, this conflict must also be measured against the overarching aspects of universal democracy and the equality of all people. Violations of human rights and international law should be named and criticized, regardless of who is perpetrating them.

The dignity of the other must be respected and respected in this criticism.
