A crazy journey through the night (Original title: The Night Before ) is an American comedy film from 1988 .

action

Due to a losing bet, the popular Tara has to accompany the unpopular Winston to the school ball. On the way there, however, Winston gets lost, ends up with her in a music bar in a shabby area of Los Angeles and wakes up some time later in an alley again. He only remembers the previous events little by little - made visible to the viewer through several flashbacks - and finally meets the prostitute Rhonda in the meanwhile empty pub, who tells Winston that he had given Tara a pimp for a large sum of money named Tito. Winston then goes in search of his companion and, after several encounters with shady characters, finally finds her tied to a bed in a hotel. He saves her from another pimp, escapes with her and finally meets Tito in a side street, who feels cheated and wants to kill them both. However, the two manage to flee in Winston's car and after a short chase, break away. Afterwards, the two of them pretend to Tara's father, a police officer, that they have been to the ball and after a kiss they finally drive to her home in the car.

Reviews

While Sandra Brennan from the All-Movie Guide attributes an unusual plot to the film, Reeves biographer Brian J. Robb rates the plot as well-known, and director Eberhardt does not make sufficient use of the skills of his main actor Reeves.
