SV Unity Aschaffenburg-Damm

The SV Einigkeit 05 Aschaffenburg-Damm is a ring and judo sports club from the Aschaffenburg district of Damm . With two team championship titles and four runner-up titles, the team was one of the most successful German teams in wrestling in the early 1960s.

history

The club was founded in 1905 as a ring and stemming club in Aschaffenburg-Damm. In addition to the heavy athletics department, a judo department was launched in the 1970s . From the start, twilight wrestled in the established Bundesliga. In 1978 the team was relegated. After intensifying youth work, you could get promoted again and reach the Bundesliga finals. When some of the main fighters emigrated, the club tried to strengthen itself in a fighting community with KSC Hösbach . The community was dissolved after a few years. Unity Damm wrestles in the Hessian State League in 2008.

Well-known wrestlers of the club were Franzl Schmitt (* 1937), Rıfat Yıldız (* 1965), Otto Schmittner (1934-2011), Gerhard Weisenberger (* 1952) and Burhan Bozkurt (* 1936) and Gerhard Himmel .

  • The judo department produced three German masters, Simone Schuck, Michael Hammer and Daniel Stamm.
