Iron (II) carbonate is almost insoluble in pure water, but soluble in water containing CO 2 , where it dissolves with the formation of iron (II) hydrogen carbonate . It is also soluble in mineral acids .
It disintegrates when heated to over 300 ° C

Iron (II) carbonate is approved as an additive for animal feed and as a flame retardant .
