history

Like all major Islamic universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is now run by the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Islamska zajednica u Bosni i Hercegovini; English Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, abbreviation ICBH) - the most important Muslim organization in Bosnia and Herzegovina Herzegovina - operated with headquarters in Sarajevo .

After the Second World War , the Medresa was closed under communist rule. Of the 33 madrasahs that existed in Bosnia and Herzegovina before World War II, only the Gazi-Husref-Bey-Medresa in Sarajevo remained open after the war.

In 1994 the Elči Ibrahim Pascha Medrese was reopened after 53 years.

Sejad Mekić , Imam at the Cambridge Mosque in Cambridge in England , received his training from her.
