Sejad Mekic

Hafiz Sejad Mekić (* 1982 in Kaćuni , Busovača ) is an Islamic clergyman and legal scholar from Bosnia who has Bosnian and British citizenship. He is the Chairman of the Cambridge Muslim Council and has been the Friday imam of Mawson Road Mosque ( Cambridge Mosque ), the main mosque in Cambridge , England, for about ten years .

He first completed training at the Elči Ibrahim Pascha Medrese in Travnik .

In 2006, he earned a postgraduate degree in theology and religious studies from the University of Cambridge . Previously, he received his BA from the University of Wales at Lampeter .

He worked as the imam of the Hendon Mosque in West Hendon , London .

He received his PhD on fatwas in Bosnia from the School of Oriental and African Studies , University of London .

In 2008 he was one of the delegation participants of the 2nd seminar of the Catholic-Muslim Forum .
