El Bosso & the ping pongs

The band El Bosso & die Ping-Pongs was the first German-speaking Ska band. It was founded in Münster in 1985 , dissolved in 1992 and has been active again since 2003.

Band history

They released the album El Bosso & the Ping-Pongs in 1990 and the mini-LP / CD Ich bin Touri in 1991 , both on Pork Pie . In 1995 both albums (without the additional "4 Live Trax" from the CD Ich bin Touri ) were combined on one CD under the title Complete! also published on Pork Pie. The debut includes the ska anthem Always Ska .

With this song they are also represented on the sampler Ska Ska Skandal No.1 , with Shame & Skandal on the sampler Ska Ska Skandal No.2 and with Alles only ein Spiel on Shame & Skandal No.3 , furthermore the Bossos are with the Title The real life on the sampler for the cult television series We are waiting for the Lindenstrasse .

At the beginning of the 1990s, El Bosso & the Ping-Pongs with Skaos from Krumbach in Bavaria, No Sports from Stuttgart, The Braces from Jülich, The Busters from Wiesloch and Blechreiz from Berlin were among the first pioneers of the German Ska scene and graduated together numerous concerts.

Mainly due to musical differences, the band broke up in 1992. In the same year there was a four-hour farewell concert in the completely sold-out Jovel Music Hall in Münster.

Trombonist and front man Richard “Prof. Richie sen. ”Founded in 1992 under the name of Dr. Ring-Ding the band Dr. Ring-Ding & The Senior Allstars .

The Bossos, which have now achieved cult status, have been playing live concerts again since 2003.

The band's almost traditional Christmas concert, held in Münster in 2006, was released on DVD on October 12, 2007 under the title El Bosso & die Ping Pongs - Live at Skater's Palace .

After more than 20 years, the Bossos were in the studio in 2011 to produce their third album the day before the evening on the Pork Pie label , which was released on January 20, 2012. In this context, El Bosso & Die Ping Pongs are playing more concerts again, such as the Dynamite Ska Festival on November 5th in Leipzig and a large "Christmas show and record release party" in Münster (Jovel Music Hall) on December 25th, 2011.
