history

In the course of the Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform, the two previously independent municipalities of Elbingen and Moravia were merged on June 7, 1969 to form the new municipality of Elbingen-Moravia. From March 1, 1972, the community belonged to the Wallmerod Association , which was then formed from 15 local communities in the Oberwesterwaldkreis , which included Elbingen-Moravia, and five local communities in the Unterwesterwaldkreis . Since March 16, 1974, the community belonged to the newly formed Westerwaldkreis, which was officially called the Westerwald district until July 31, 1974 .

On January 1, 1994, the municipality was dissolved again by state law . At the time of the dissolution, Elbingen had 237 inhabitants and Moravia had 206 inhabitants. Since then Elbingen and Moravia have been separated again; however, they remained as local communities in the Wallmerod Association.
