David H. Patton

David Henry Patton (born November 26, 1837 in Flemingsburg , Fleming County , Kentucky , †  January 17, 1914 in Otterbein , Indiana ) was an American politician . Between 1891 and 1893 he represented the state of Indiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

David Patton attended the Collegiate Institute in Waveland, Indiana. During the civil war he served in the Union army , where he made it to the rank of colonel. After the war he studied medicine at Chicago Medical College until 1867 . After his admission as a doctor, he began working in this profession in Remington . Between 1886 and 1890 he worked for the City of Remington as a clerk in the pension department.

Politically, Patton was a member of the Democratic Party . In 1892 and 1900 he was a delegate to the respective Democratic National Conventions . In the congressional elections of 1890 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the tenth constituency of Indiana , where he succeeded William D. Owen on March 4, 1891 . Since he refused to run again in 1892, he was only able to complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1893 .

After leaving the US House of Representatives, Patton moved to Woodward in Indian Territory that is now part of Oklahoma . There he worked for the land registry office in 1893. He later practiced there as a doctor. He was also a member of the local health committee. In the meantime he also worked in Woodward as a clerk for pension issues. David Patton died in Otterbein on January 17, 1914 and was buried in Remington.
