Brian Douglas Kerns (born May 22, 1957 in Terre Haute , Indiana ) is an American politician . Between 2001 and 2003 he represented the state of Indiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Brian Kerns is the son-in-law of former Congressman John T. Myers . He studied at Indiana State University in Terre Haute until 1992 . He then worked for Congressman Edward A. Pease . Kerns also worked as a television journalist and was employed by the administration of Saint Joseph's College . He also worked intermittently for the Indiana state government in the Department for Natural Resources .

Politically, Kerns joined the Republican Party . In the 2000 congressional elections , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the seventh constituency of Indiana , where he succeeded Edward Pease on January 3, 2001. Since he was not confirmed in 2003, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until January 3, 2003 . The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 took place during this period . Kerns was a member of the Committee on International Relations and the Committee on Transport and Infrastructure .

Brian Kerns is married with five children.
