Andrew H. Hamilton

Andrew Holman Hamilton (born June 7, 1834 in Fort Wayne , Indiana , †  May 9, 1895 there ) was an American politician . Between 1875 and 1879 he represented the state of Indiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Andrew Hamilton attended public schools in his home country and then Wabash College in Crawfordsville until 1854 . After a subsequent law degree at Harvard University and his admission as a lawyer in 1859, he began to work in Fort Wayne in his new profession. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Democratic Party .

In the congressional elections of 1874 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the twelfth constituency of Indiana , where he succeeded Godlove Stein Orth on March 4, 1875 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1879 . After retiring from the US House of Representatives, Andrew Hamilton practiced law again in Fort Wayne, where he died on May 9, 1895.
