Randall S. Harmon (born July 19, 1903 in North Vernon , Jennings County , Indiana , †  August 18, 1982 in Muncie , Indiana) was an American politician . Between 1959 and 1961 he represented the state of Indiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Ralph Harmon attended North Vernon High School , followed by law and tooling courses. Between 1933 and 1959 he worked as a toolmaker for Delco Battery Operations in Muncie. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1944 and 1956 he ran seven times unsuccessfully for Congress .

Since 1954 he was a member of the Democratic Party . In the congressional election of 1958 he was elected as their candidate in the tenth constituency of Indiana in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Ralph Harvey on January 3, 1959 . Since he lost to Harvey in 1960, he was only able to serve one term in Congress until January 3, 1961. After he left the US House of Representatives, Harmon sought several times in vain to nominate his party for the congressional elections until 1980. In 1979 he ran for the office of mayor of Muncie just as unsuccessfully. He died in that town on August 18, 1982 and was buried in North Vernon.
