David W. Evans

David Walter Evans (born August 17, 1946 in Lafayette , Indiana ) is an American politician . Between 1975 and 1983 he represented the state of Indiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

David Evans attended public schools in Shoals . He then studied until 1969 at Indiana University and until 1971 at Butler University . From 1968 to 1974 he taught social sciences. Politically, Evans joined the Democratic Party . In 1974 he was a delegate to their mid-term convention .

In the 1974 congressional election , Evans was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the sixth constituency of Indiana , where he succeeded William G. Bray on January 3, 1977 . After three re-elections, he was able to complete four legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 1983 . In 1982 he was not re-elected. Since leaving the US House of Representatives, Evans has worked as a political advisor in the federal capital, Washington.
