Harry E. Rowbottom

Harry Emerson Rowbottom (born November 3, 1884 in Aurora , Dearborn County , Indiana , †  March 22, 1934 in Evansville , Indiana) was an American politician . Between 1925 and 1931 he represented the state of Indiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1885 Harry Rowbottom moved with his parents to Ludlow , Kentucky , where he attended public schools. In 1901 he graduated from Ludlow High School . Between 1902 and 1904 he attended Kentucky State College in Lexington . From 1904 to 1907 he traded in lubricating oil. At the same time he studied accounting at the Cincinnati Business Center . Until 1912 he worked first in Cincinnati and then in Chicago as an auditor. In 1913 he moved to Evansville, where he worked for the Indiana Refining Co. worked.

Politically, Rowbottom was a member of the Republican Party . Between 1919 and 1923 he was a member of the Indiana House of Representatives . In the congressional election of 1924 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the first constituency of Indiana , where he succeeded William E. Wilson on March 4, 1925 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by March 3, 1931 . These had been shaped by the events of the Great Depression since 1929 .

In 1930 Rowbottom was not re-elected. In the following years he worked as a commercial agent for a trucking company. Harry Rowbottom died in Evansville on March 22, 1934.
