Frank McCloskey
Francis Xavier "Frank" McCloskey (born June 12, 1939 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , † November 2, 2003 in Bloomington , Indiana ) was an American politician .
McCloskey served in the US Air Force from 1957 to 1961 , which he joined immediately after high school . He then studied at Indiana University in Bloomington, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in 1968 . He received his Juris Doctorate from the University's Law School in 1971 . While studying, McCloskey worked as a reporter for the Indianapolis Star , the Herald Telephone in Bloomington, and the City News Bureau in Chicago . 1972 to 1982 he held the office of Mayor of Bloomington.
McCloskey was elected as a Democrat to Congress and represented the state of Indiana from January 3, 1983 to January 3, 1995 in the US House of Representatives . During this time he traveled to Bosnia and Herzegovina several times and stood up for this country in Congress. He died of bladder cancer in November 2003 at his Bloomington home after a long illness . His ashes were buried with military honors in Arlington National Cemetery on February 10, 2004 .
McCloskey was married with two children, a son and a daughter.
