John Edward Lamb

John Edward Lamb (born December 26, 1852 in Terre Haute , Indiana ; †  August 23, 1914 there ) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1883 and 1885 he represented the state of Indiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

John Lamb attended public schools in his home country including Terre Haute High School . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1873, he began to work in his new profession in Terre Haute. Between 1875 and 1880 he was a district attorney in the 15th Judicial District of Indiana. Politically, Lamb joined the Democratic Party . In the congressional election of 1882 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the eighth constituency of Indiana , where he succeeded Robert Peirce on March 4, 1883 . Until March 3, 1885 he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress .

After leaving the US House of Representatives, Lamb practiced law again. Between 1885 and 1886 he served as a federal attorney for Indiana, succeeding Charles L. Holstein . In 1892, 1896, 1904, 1908 and 1912 he was a delegate to the respective Democratic National Conventions . John Lamb died on August 23, 1914 in his hometown of Terre Haute, where he was also buried.
