Jeremiah M. Wilson

Jeremiah Morrow Wilson (born November 25, 1828 in Lebanon , Ohio , †  September 24, 1901 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician . Between 1871 and 1875 he represented the state of Indiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Jeremiah Wilson attended schools in his homeland. After studying law and being admitted to the bar, he began to work in this profession. He later moved his residence and law firm to Connersville , Indiana. Between 1860 and 1870 he worked as a judge at various courts in his new home. Politically, Wilson joined the Republican Party .

In the congressional elections of 1870 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington in the fourth constituency of Indiana, where he succeeded George Washington Julian on March 4, 1871 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1875 . In 1874, Wilson declined to run again. But he stayed in the federal capital Washington, where he practiced as a lawyer. He died there on September 24, 1901.
