Daniel Webster Waugh (born March 7, 1842 in Bluffton , Wells County , Indiana , †  March 14, 1921 in Tipton , Indiana) was an American politician . Between 1891 and 1895 he represented the state of Indiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Daniel Waugh attended public schools in his home country including Bluffton High School . Between 1861 and 1864 he served as a soldier in the Union Army . After that he worked as a teacher and in agriculture. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1866, he began to practice in Tipton in this profession. Between 1884 and 1890 he was a judge in the 36th Judicial District of Indiana.

Politically, Waugh was a member of the Republican Party . In the congressional election of 1890 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the ninth constituency of Indiana , where he succeeded Joseph B. Cheadle on March 4, 1891 . After a re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1895 . In 1894 Daniel Waugh renounced another congressional candidacy. After leaving the US House of Representatives, he returned to work as a lawyer. He died on March 14, 1921 in Tipton, where he was also buried.
