John P. Hiler

John Patrick Hiler (born April 24, 1953 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American politician . Between 1981 and 1991 he represented the state of Indiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

John Hiler attended La Lumiere High School in La Porte (Indiana) until 1971 . He then studied until 1975 at Williams College in Williamstown ( Massachusetts ), where he completed his bachelor's degree, and until 1977 at the School of Business at the University of Chicago , where he earned an MBA . He then worked as a marketing director. Politically, Hiler joined the Republican Party . In 1978 and 1980 he was a delegate to regional Republican party conventions in Indiana.

In the 1980 congressional election , Hiler was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the third constituency of Indiana , where he succeeded John Brademas on January 3, 1981 . After four re-elections, he was able to complete five legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 1991 . In 1990 he was defeated by the Democrat Timothy J. Roemer .

In 1991 and 1993, John Hiler was assistant administrator in the General Services Administration ; then he retired from politics. Today he works as a private businessman.
