William T. Zenor

William Taylor Zenor (born April 30, 1846 in Corydon , Harrison County , Indiana , †  June 2, 1916 in New Albany , Indiana) was an American politician . Between 1897 and 1907 he represented the state of Indiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Zenor attended the public schools of his home country and the Seminary of James G. May . After a subsequent law degree in New Albany and his admission as a lawyer in 1870, he began to work in Corydon in this profession. In 1871 he moved his residence and law firm to Leavenworth . Between 1879 and 1885 Zenor was a district attorney in Harrison County and Crawford Counties ; from 1885 to 1897 he served as a judge in the third judicial district of his state.

Politically, Zenor was a member of the Democratic Party . In the congressional elections of 1896 he was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the third constituency of Indiana , where he succeeded Robert J. Tracewell on March 4, 1897 . After four re-elections, he was able to complete five legislative terms in Congress by March 3, 1907 . During this time, the Spanish-American War of 1898 took place .

After leaving the US House of Representatives, William Zenor practiced again as a lawyer in Corydon. In 1910 he moved to New Albany where he continued to work as a lawyer. He died there on June 2, 1916.
