David L. Cornwell

David Lance Cornwell (born June 14, 1945 in Paoli , Orange County , Indiana , † November 2, 2012 ) was an American politician . Between 1977 and 1979 he represented the state of Indiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

David Cornwell attended public schools in his home country and then the Culver Military Academy . This was followed by studies at the Phillips Academy in Massachusetts . In 1964 he graduated from Park High School in Indianapolis . Cornwell served in the US Army between 1966 and 1968 . He was used in the Vietnam War. After his military service he continued his education at the American College of Monaco and until 1974 at Indiana University .

Politically, Cornwell joined the Democratic Party . In 1974 he tried unsuccessfully to be nominated for the congressional elections. In the 1976 elections he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the eighth constituency of Indiana , where he succeeded Philip H. Hayes on January 3, 1977 . Since he was defeated by Republican H. Joel Deckard in 1978 , he could only serve one term in Congress until January 3, 1979 .

David Cornwell has worked in the field of national and international political cooperation since leaving the US House of Representatives.
