Simeon K. Wolfe

Simeon Kalfius Wolfe (born February 14, 1824 in Georgetown , Floyd County , Indiana , †  November 18, 1888 in New Albany , Indiana) was an American politician . Between 1873 and 1875 he represented the state of Indiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Simeon Wolfe attended public schools in his homeland. After a subsequent law degree at Indiana University in Bloomington and his admission to the bar in 1850, he began to work in Corydon in this profession. In this city he published the newspaper "Corydon Democrat" between 1857 and 1865. Politically, Wolfe was a member of the Democratic Party . He was a member of the Indiana Senate from 1860 to 1864 . In 1860 he was a delegate to both Democratic National Conventions , held in Charleston and Baltimore . Since 1870 Wolfe lived in New Albany, where he continued to work as a lawyer.

In the congressional election of 1872 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the second constituency of Indiana , where he succeeded Michael C. Kerr on March 4, 1873 . Since he renounced another candidacy in 1874, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1875 . After leaving the US House of Representatives, Wolfe practiced law again. Between 1880 and 1884 he served as district judge in Floyd County and Clark County . He died on November 18, 1888 in New Albany, where he was also buried.
