ElbtonalPercussion is a German drum ensemble.
history
ElbtonalPercussion was founded in 1996 by Jan-Frederick Behrend, Wolfgang Rummel, Andrej Kauffmann and Stephan Krause (and supplemented by Sönke Schreiber since 2010), who were studying classical drums at the Hamburg University of Music at the time. With their instruments of drums , cymbals & gongs as well as marimba & vibraphone , five CDs and a live DVD were created. The group is also featured as a guest on other albums and compilations. The group describes their musical style as a “creative crossover (music) ” of classical, jazz & world music , new music , rock music and drum and bass .
Elbtonal Percussion performed a. a. at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival , the Lower Saxony Music Days, the Handel Festival in Halle , the Euro-Klassik Festival, JazzBaltica , the Rudolstadt Dance & Folk Festival or the Central Europe Festival . Tours have taken the quartet through Europe and repeatedly to Asia. a. to the Iwamizawa Art and Music Festival in Sapporo (Japan), to the NCPA International Percussion Music Festival in Beijing and to Shanghai , where they acted as Hamburg's cultural ambassadors at Expo 2010 .
Cooperation took place u. a. with the marimba virtuoso Keiko Abé , with Stewart Copeland ("The Police"), the Indian drummer and percussionist Trilok Gurtu , drummer Benny Greb , the actor and voice actor Christian Brückner and John Neumeier with his Hamburg Ballet. In addition, Elbtonal Percussion has participated in film music productions and a. in Doris Dörries drama Cherry Blossoms - Hanami , the Der Baader Meinhof Complex by Uli Edel / Bernd Eichinger and Christian Alvart's science fiction thriller Pandorum .
