Eleanor Patterson (born May 22, 1996 in Leongatha ) is an Australian high jumper .

Athletic career

Eleanor Patterson gained her first international experience in 2013 at the World Youth Championships in Donetsk , where she won the gold medal with a jump over 1.88 m. The following year she took part for the first time in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow , Scotland , and won there at the age of only 18 with 1.94 m in front of the Englishwoman Isobel Pooley and Levern Spencer from St. Lucia. In 2015 she qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where she made it straight to the finals and finished eighth there with 1.92 m. In 2016 she took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , but dropped out there with 1.89 m in the qualification . After three less successful years Patterson improved on February 28 in Wellington the Oceania record of her compatriots Vanessa Browne-Ward and Alison Inverarity by one centimeter to 1.99 m and thus qualified again for the Olympic Games in Tokyo .

From 2013 to 2016, Patterson was the Australian high jump champion.
