The municipality of Eleftheres ( Greek Δημοτική Ενότητα Ελευθερών Dimotiki Enotita Eleftheron ) is one of five parishes in the municipality of Pangeo . It emerged from the municipality of Eleftheres as part of the 2010 administrative reform and is divided into a city district and six local communities. The administrative seat is the city of Nea Peramos .
To the south and east, the coast forms the natural border of Eleftheres. The municipality is bounded by the Symvolo Mountains to the north and west. The highest point is the Agriada ( Greek Αγριάδα ) in the Symvolo Mountains with 694 m. The inhabitants live mainly from viticulture and tourism.
history
The most important historical relics are the ruins of the ancient Oisyme , the castle of Anaktoropolis and the Byzantine tower of Apollonia (13th - 14th centuries BC).
In 1913, the Battle of Vasopetra took place here.
