Elena Tagliabue [ ˈɛːlena taʎʎaˈbuːe ] (born December 12, 1977 in Edolo ) is a former Italian ski racer . She specialized primarily in the fast downhill and super-G disciplines and competed in the Ski World Cup from 1996 to 2004 .
biography
Tagliabue began her career with FIS races and in the European Cup , where she was among the top ten for the first time in February 1996. A little later she reached eighth place in the downhill at the 1996 Junior World Championships . In the 1996/97 season she celebrated two European Cup victories in the downhill and super-G of Tignes and, with two further podium places, she finished fourth in the super-G and downhill rankings as well as sixth overall. In the same winter she also drove her first races in the World Cup , but did not yet achieve the points.
On December 6, 1997, she took 27th place in the Super-G of Lake Louise for the first time and reached 18th place in the Super-G of Cortina d'Ampezzo in January . At the beginning of the 1998/99 season she was 14th in the Super-G of Lake Louise, but otherwise had to be content with places around 30th. On February 7, 1999, the Italian competed for the first and only time at a world championship and finished 24th in the downhill.
Towards the end of the 1999/2000 season , Tagliabue achieved her best World Cup result: on February 27, 2000, she was fifth in the Super-G in Innsbruck . The next winter she did not come close to this result and only placed in the top 30 twice, but in the 2001/02 season she again achieved two ninth places in the Super-G in St. Moritz and in the downhill from Åre . At the 2002 Winter Olympics , she only competed in the combination and finished in 19th place.
In the 2002/03 season , the Italian did not get any good results and she was only once among the top 30. In 2003/04 she contested her last three World Cup races, in which she did not score any more, and again increasingly participated in European Cup races which she achieved a third place in the Super-G of Bardonecchia . After the season, Tagliabue ended her career.
