Elias Aslaksen (born April 19, 1888 in Christiania ; † May 10, 1976 in Hønefoss , Norway ) was a Norwegian preacher and from 1943 until his death in 1976 worldwide responsible for the Brunstad Christian Church , known in Germany as The Christian Congregation .

Life

Elias Aslaksen was born into a wealthy, middle-class family. In 1908 he came into contact with Johan Oscar Smith . Aslaksen was at that time a cadet of the military school and did his service in the Navy . He graduated from Naval War School in 1910 as the best student in Norwegian school history. But he soon resigned voluntarily, ending his career before it had even started.

Aslaksen wanted to go to China as a missionary , but after exchanging letters with Smith, he finished a Bible school he attended in England and moved back to Norway. From 1914 to 1918 he was drafted as a "neutrality guard" and sailed for the navy mainly in southeast Norway. His family lived in Fredrikstad at the time . He was a very active missionary during his shore leave . Often he was allowed to appear in other meetings and proclaimed his doctrine of the faith. In this way, many interested people from other religious communities were attracted to the Brunstad Christian Church right from the start .

Elias Aslaksen was also a foreign missionary for the Brunstad Christian Church . He spoke German, English and French. He also taught these subjects as a teacher in school.
