Eliezer ben Jacob the Elder
R. Elieser ben Jakob the Elder (also: Eliezer ben Jakob the Elder ) was a Tannaite of the first generation in the first century AD. It probably belonged to the Shammaite school and passed down traditions above all about the temple. The description of the temple in Middot (II. 5, 6; V., 4) is traced back to him.
His teaching is seen as not extensive, but halachically reliable: His Mishnah only fills a kaw [measure of measure] but is pure (Bab. Jebamot 49b).
